Distance Learning
The Office of Distributed Learning (ODL) is dedicated to making successful completion of a CSUSB degree accessible to students anytime, anywhere.
CSUSB offers 100-percent online degree programs, as well as blended
online programs, which combine the best of online and face-to-face instruction.
Video courses originate from Cal State San Bernardino or its
satellite campus in Palm Desert and are broadcast through two-way audio
and video to one or more off-campus sites.
Students enjoy the flexibility offered by distance education; material can be reviewed, practiced and disseminated on their own time, location and pace. Course outcomes are identical to those taught in a classroom, but the content can be presented and mastered using a variety of tools and techniques that are not available in the physical classroom. Of course, it requires that students have the necessary self-discipline to keep up with the tasks and assignments associated with course objectives, but an increasing number of courses are offering distance components, in part or entirely.
CSUSB offers courses and programs specially tailored for military personnel. Developed in close collaboration with the Defense Acquisition University, CSUSB offers specialized courses that prepare students for DAWII level II certification in project management, a gateway to many challenging careers in the defense acquisition workforce. These specialized graduate courses are electives in the 100-percent online master of arts in criminal justice program and the 100-percent online master’s in public administration. All programs are accredited by WASC, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Courses are taught online either entirely or partially at a distance
using Web-based Learning Management Systems like Blackboard or Moodle.
